We have been active investors, owners and managers of real estate investments since 1999. We measure our success on a human scale; in the clients and investors who know us as trusted partners and the residents and team members who call Hazelview home.

For us, it’s always been about getting the most value by digging a little deeper to uncover opportunities for growth that others missed. We have an active, hands-on investment management platform that helps us find opportunities for sustainable long-term cash flow. We’ve got a reputation for providing conservatively managed, risk-averse investment opportunities for our investors.

Michael Williams

Managing Partner & Chief Development Officer

Michael Williams joined Hazelview Investments in February 2020 and currently serves as Managing Partner & Chief Development Officer. In this role, Michael provides executive oversight of Hazelview Investments' national development platform, leading strategy, execution, and investment across the firm's purpose-built rental pipeline.

Michael has been instrumental in founding, establishing and scaling the firm's development investment business into a nationally recognized, full-cycle platform. His leadership is grounded in disciplined execution, operational integrity, and long-term value creation. Under his direction, the team has delivered award-winning rental communities that reflect strong performance fundamentals, sustainable design principles, and high-quality resident experiences.

As Chief Development Officer, Michael continues to lead the national development platform while also assuming broader responsibilities across strategic growth initiatives, organizational effectiveness, and partner and investor relationships. He is committed to building a collaborative, high-performing team culture focused on excellence, accountability, and innovation.

Michael has over 18 years of experience in real estate development, asset management, and investment. Early in his career, he worked with a design-build commercial developer, an experience that grounded his approach to construction and delivery.  Mchael served as Senior Vice President, Asset Management at Clifton Blake Asset Management, where he led the private equity firm, overseeing its asset management, operations, and development functions while away from Hazelview from 2018-2020.

Over the course of his career, Michael has led more than $5B in multi-family development;  $3B worth of financing and $200M in commercial and industrial projects, and has entitled more than 13 million sq. ft. of gross floor area (GFA). He was one of the founding members of the Hazelview Development Platform and has been central to growing it into a national platform now valued at more than $12B, encompassing 17.4 million sq. ft. of purpose-built rental space in various stages of development across Canada. The platform's active pipeline includes more than 20,000 units, with more than 3,000 units currently under construction nationwide.

Beyond his role at Hazelview Investments, Michael has served on the Board of Habitat for Humanity GTA for the past three years, maintaining an active presence on its Land and Build Committee. Michael studied Commerce from the University of Toronto and has completed executive and professional development programs at Cornell University, the University of Toronto, the Canada Green Building Council, and the Canadian Construction Association, including his PMP certification and LEED Green Associate designation.
