Daniel Kowalczyk

Daniel joined Hazelview Investments in January 2022 and is a Partner on the Real Estate Development Team. In this role, he leads the execution of a diverse pipeline of developments across Canada, overseeing projects through the full development lifecycle, from initial feasibility and acquisition through planning, financing, construction, stabilization and operations

Daniel plays a key leadership role in advancing complex, institutional-quality development projects, with a particular focus on investment strategy, financial structuring, and execution. His responsibilities span the full development process, including development underwriting and pro forma modelling, entitlements and rezoning, design development, budgeting and scheduling, project management, and the structuring and securing of construction and take-out financing. He also manages relationships with lenders, investors, partners, consultants, and other key stakeholders, while overseeing portfolio-level cash flow management, development reporting, and investment performance.

With approximately 10 years of experience in commercial real estate, Daniel brings expertise across development, investment underwriting, capital structuring, and risk management. His experience spans large-scale residential and commercial projects, with a focus on delivering high-quality purpose-built rental and affordable housing while creating long-term value for investors and partners.

Prior to joining Hazelview, Daniel was at First National Financial, where he specialized in commercial real estate financing. In this role, he led underwriting and due diligence for multi-family and commercial assets, prepared investment memoranda, and supported the financing and execution of a broad range of institutional real estate transactions. At Hazelview, Daniel is actively involved in advancing the firm's growing national development platform and works across development investments, planning, construction, and execution to bring complex projects from concept to completion.

Daniel holds a Master of Science in Real Estate (Finance and Investment) from New York University, an Honours Specialization in Urban Development from Western University and a Certificate from Columbia Business School in AI for Business & Finance.
