David Melo

David joined Hazelview in 2004 and currently serves as Chief Financial and Operating Officer. In this role, he oversees the firm’s finance function as well as key operational areas across the business.

As Chief Financial and Operating Officer, David is responsible for driving alignment between financial performance and operational execution, supporting Hazelview’s long-term strategy and continued growth across its platforms. He works closely with teams across the organization to ensure disciplined financial management and effective operations at scale.

David has held several senior leadership roles within Hazelview, including President & Chief Operating Officer of Hazelview Properties, where he oversaw a national portfolio of more than 23,000 residential suites and led a team of over 600 professionals. He previously served as Managing Director, Finance & Chief Financial Officer, where he was responsible for financial reporting, treasury, and corporate financing across the business.

David is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University.
