Hazelview Properties Partners with Maple to Bring Free Virtual Healthcare to Residents
Toronto, ON – May 22, 2025 – This Mental Health Month, Canada’s leading rental housing provider Hazelview Properties is expanding access to free virtual healthcare for even more residents — because health and well-being go hand in hand. Through a partnership with Maple, residents can now connect with both licensed physicians and mental health therapists, helping bridge the gap in care for the mind and body alike.
Hazelview has partnered with Maple, a trusted name in Canadian virtual healthcare, to expand access to essential services for its residents across the country. Now,5000+ residents in 25+ buildings across 11 cities can speak with licensed doctors conveniently from the comfort of their homes.
This comes as more Canadians are struggling to find a family physician. In fact, according to the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), approximately 6.5 million people (more than one in five Canadians), don’t have a family doctor.
To date, over 1,000 residents across more than 25 Hazelview Properties have benefited from this offering. On average, each virtual consultation saves residents approximately four hours compared to traditional walk-in clinics, reducing time away from work or school and improving access to timely care. Hazelview Properties is committed to delivering real, everyday value to its residents by removing barriers to care and helping them prioritize their health, especially as they navigate the rising cost of living.
“This partnership between two leading Canadian organizations demonstrates how we can together address access to healthcare at a time when health and wellness is at the forefront of the minds of Canadians,” says Amii Stephenson, VP of Sales at Maple. “We are proud to partner with Hazelview Properties to respond to the needs of their residents by offering access to primary and mental health care resources in the comfort of their own suites.”
Virtual healthcare is no longer a niche service. It's a national shift. According to a recent report by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), one in three Canadians report having received primary care virtually in the past year, a fourfold increase since 2020. The report also finds that nearly 1 in 10 emergency room visits could have been avoided with virtual care, easing pressure on an already stretched healthcare system.
Virtual care is a great option for those who need access to convenient and reliable medical support. By offering it as a value-add service, Hazelview is directly looking to support Canadians who want to take healthcare into their own hands. The offering is being well-received. Among the Hazelview residents using the service, 80% report a stronger intention to stay with Hazelview because of their access to Maple.
“For us, it’s about helping resident live better by providing meaningful services that support their everyday lives,” says Colleen Krempulec, Head of Sustainability and Brand at Hazelview Properties. “Offering free virtual healthcare is one way we deliver on that commitment. We’ve seen a strong response, with 92% of our residents saying they value the coverage, and 88% saying it enhances their overall living experience.”
